English
1. Who operates the Service
Shoorkum (“we,” “us,” or “our”), provides the Shoorkum mobile applications, website, community, and related features (together, the “Service”). These Terms form a binding agreement between the operator and each person who accesses or uses the Service.
Questions may be submitted through shoorkum.com/support or in-app Help & Safety.
2. Acceptance and related policies
By creating an account, posting, commenting, voting, or otherwise using an account feature, you agree to these Terms and acknowledge the Privacy Notice. The Community Guidelines, Safety and Advice Disclaimer, Copyright Policy, Appeals Policy, and Account Deletion Policy form part of these Terms.
If you do not agree, do not create an account or use contribution features. Browsing may remain available where Shoorkum permits it. If applicable law or Shoorkum policy requires parent or guardian consent, it must be valid and remain in effect.
3. Eligibility, age, and country
You may use only features made available for your age band, country, account status, and required guardian approval. You must provide an accurate birth date, country of residence, and account information. You may not evade an age gate, use another person’s account, or alter declarations to obtain restricted features.
Shoorkum may ask you to repeat a declaration, complete proportionate age assurance, or provide guardian approval where required. We may restrict inconsistent, expired, or reasonably suspected false information. Self-declaration does not guarantee that every feature is lawful or suitable for you.
4. Accounts and security
- Keep access links, one-time codes, devices, and credentials secure.
- Use one personal account unless Shoorkum expressly permits otherwise.
- Choose a lawful nickname that does not impersonate, expose, or mislead.
- Report suspected compromise through Help & Safety.
- Do not sell, rent, transfer, or share account access or reputation.
You are responsible for account activity to the extent permitted by law. App lock is a convenience, not a guarantee against device compromise, screenshots, backups, or forensic access.
5. Anonymous and public participation
Dilemma posts may display a generated anonymous alias while advice and reputation may use a persistent nickname. “Anonymous” means the ordinary account identity is not displayed on that dilemma. It does not mean Shoorkum has no account record, that readers cannot infer identity, or that information can never be disclosed when lawfully required.
Public content may be read, copied, quoted, translated, narrated, shared, indexed, or captured. Do not include names, contact details, precise locations, employers, schools, photographs, or identifying facts. Privacy rewriting and auto-hide cannot reverse copies made by others.
6. Your content and licence
You retain ownership of content you create and confirm that you have all rights and permissions needed to submit it. You must not unlawfully expose, defame, threaten, exploit, or infringe another person.
You grant Shoorkum a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, format, translate, narrate, moderate, display, distribute, and technically adapt your content only as reasonably needed to operate, secure, improve, and promote the Service and deliver features you select. Service providers may act under this licence. It ends when content leaves active systems except for limited backups, safety and legal records, and copies already shared as described in the Privacy Notice and Account Deletion Policy.
Shoorkum does not claim ownership of your content and will not use a private draft for public promotion without your affirmative permission.
7. Prohibited conduct
- Breaking the Community Guidelines or encouraging violations.
- Threatening, harassing, exploiting, grooming, sexualizing, doxxing, stalking, blackmailing, or unlawfully identifying anyone.
- Promoting suicide, self-harm, credible violence, terrorism, trafficking, fraud, illegal sales, or actionable instructions for wrongdoing.
- Uploading child sexual abuse material or any sexual content involving a person under 18; such content is strictly prohibited and may be reported where required.
- Manipulating votes, outcomes, helpful reactions, rankings, leaderboards, reports, or accounts.
- Scraping, reverse engineering, probing, overloading, bypassing controls, introducing malware, or using unauthorized automation.
- Unauthorized advertising, off-platform contact solicitation, regulated-goods sales, or false reports intended to harm.
8. Moderation and enforcement
Shoorkum uses automated systems, reports, account signals, and human review where reasonably available to detect content or conduct that may be unsafe, unlawful, age-inappropriate, or against these Terms. Automated systems may make mistakes and do not determine religious permissibility.
We may refuse publication, limit audience or distribution, remove content, disable features, reverse reputation, preserve evidence, warn, suspend, or delete accounts. Serious or repeated violations may receive immediate action. Advance notice may be withheld when it could increase risk, compromise an investigation, or violate law.
Eligible decisions may be appealed under the Appeals Policy. Reporting and blocking remain available, but no moderation system can promise to detect every harmful item.
9. Advice, religion, and emergencies
Shoorkum is a community discussion service, not an emergency service. It does not provide medical, mental-health, legal, financial, religious, safeguarding, or other professional advice. Content is not a fatwa, legal ruling, diagnosis, or professional recommendation, regardless of rank or apparent experience.
Do not delay contacting local emergency services, a qualified professional, a trusted adult, or an appropriate protection service because of Shoorkum. You remain responsible for your decisions, subject to rights and liabilities that applicable law does not allow anyone to exclude.
10. Third-party services and availability
The Service may rely on Supabase for authentication and backend services, Resend for email, Vercel for website hosting, Azure services for moderation or translation when enabled, and ElevenLabs for selected narration when enabled. Their systems may process information as described in the Privacy Notice and may experience outages or changes.
Shoorkum may change, limit, suspend, or discontinue a feature and perform maintenance. We do not promise uninterrupted availability, permanent storage, a particular number of answers, a ranking, or all features in every country or age band.
11. Intellectual property
Except for user content, Shoorkum software, branding, interface, compilation, and original materials are protected. You receive only a limited, personal, revocable, non-transferable right to use the Service. Copyright complaints are handled under the Copyright Policy.
12. Disclaimers
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service and community content are provided “as is” and “as available.” Shoorkum does not warrant that content is accurate, lawful, safe, complete, culturally appropriate, religiously correct, or suitable for a decision. Translation, privacy rewriting, moderation, and narration may contain errors.
Nothing excludes warranties, remedies, or consumer protections that applicable law makes mandatory.
13. Limits of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Shoorkum is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive loss; loss of reputation, opportunity, profits, data, or goodwill; or harm caused by community content, another user, an external provider, or unauthorized copying of public content.
Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited only as the law permits. No limitation applies to fraud, wilful misconduct, gross negligence, death or personal injury caused by negligence, mandatory data-protection duties, or any liability the law does not allow to be waived or limited.
14. Responsibility for misuse
Where permitted, an adult user is responsible for reasonable losses and third-party claims directly caused by that user’s unlawful content, deliberate misuse, or material breach. This does not cover losses caused by Shoorkum, exceed the user’s legal responsibility, or reduce mandatory consumer or minor protections.
15. Suspension, termination, and deletion
You may stop using Shoorkum and request deletion under the Account Deletion Policy. Shoorkum may suspend or terminate access for violations, safety risk, legal requirements, prolonged inactivity, or discontinuation. Provisions that must survive by nature continue only as necessary.
16. Applicable law and disputes
Before a non-urgent claim, contact support and allow a reasonable response opportunity. This does not prevent urgent court relief, a regulator complaint, or a mandatory consumer process.
Mandatory consumer, minor, privacy, and platform protections of the user’s country continue to apply where they cannot lawfully be waived. Any non-consumer dispute will be handled under the law and forum that applicable law permits.
17. Changes and contact
Shoorkum may update these Terms for product, safety, legal, or operational changes. Material changes will be presented in the Service and may require renewed acceptance. The dates above identify this version.
