English
1. Requesting deletion
Shoorkum lets an authenticated user request deletion from Profile or Settings where available, through support, or through in-app Help & Safety. Deletion is free. We may verify account control and will not request a password or one-time code through support.
If you cannot access the account, provide the nickname, original sign-in email through the secure support flow, and enough information to verify control. Do not send identity documents unless Shoorkum specifically determines that proportionate verification is legally necessary.
2. Immediate effects
- Contribution access is disabled and the account enters deletion-requested status.
- Public posts and comments are withdrawn from normal public view.
- Public nickname and avatar are de-identified.
- Poll/debate votes, helpful reactions, mentions, blocks, and notifications are removed from active community features where technically applicable.
- Entitlements or unused feature credits tied only to the account are disabled and not transferable.
The request may become irreversible once processing begins. Contact Help & Safety promptly if a compromised account made the request. Restoration is not promised after processing starts.
3. Completion period
Shoorkum aims to complete deletion from active systems within 30 days after verifying a valid request. It may take longer only when control cannot reasonably be verified, an outage prevents safe processing, or a lawful retention exception applies. We will explain delay where permitted.
Provider-controlled rotating backups may retain an inaccessible copy up to 30 additional days before overwrite. Data is not restored from backup for ordinary product use after completed deletion.
4. Information that may remain temporarily
- Withdrawn content and account linkage up to 90 days for integrity, recovery, and abuse investigation.
- Reports, moderation decisions, appeals, security evidence, and material tied to a safety incident up to 24 months after closure.
- Policy-acceptance and completed deletion records up to 7 years where reasonably necessary to prove compliance or resolve a claim.
- Records under a valid legal hold, court order, child-safety duty, fraud investigation, unresolved payment dispute, or mandatory retention only while that basis remains valid.
Retained information is restricted from ordinary product use and deleted or anonymized when the basis ends. Shoorkum does not retain data merely because it might someday be useful.
5. Information outside Shoorkum’s control
Deletion cannot retrieve screenshots, quotations, downloads, search caches, messages, or copies made by another person before removal. Independently written replies may remain if they no longer identify the deleted user or depend on deleted content. Shoorkum will assess a specific privacy or safety complaint about remaining material.
Deleting Shoorkum does not automatically delete an independent Apple, Google, email-provider, or other service account.
6. Device-local removal
Account deletion concerns server-side data. To remove local drafts, caches, narration files, browser storage, and lock settings, sign out where possible, clear app/browser data, or uninstall after requesting deletion. The user and platform provider control operating-system and device backups.
7. Minors, guardians, and deceased users
An eligible minor may use the in-account deletion control. A guardian request requires verification of authority and is handled with regard to the young person’s rights and safety. Requests for a deceased or incapacitated user require proportionate proof of authority and remain subject to applicable law.
8. Contact and complaints
For deletion status, access problems, or a claim that information remains after the applicable period, contact support. You may also complain to a competent privacy or consumer authority.
