1. Purpose and application
Shoorkum provides a space for honest anonymous dilemmas, respectful disagreement, and useful advice. These rules cover posts, titles, tags, polls, comments, replies, debate arguments, nicknames, reports, outcomes, and attempts to move interaction elsewhere.
Context matters. A person may discuss abuse, sin, crime, self-harm, addiction, or another sensitive experience to seek help. Description differs from praise, solicitation, instruction, threat, or exploitation. Mature but permitted discussion may receive an age or audience restriction.
2. Respect people and communities
- Challenge an argument, not a person’s dignity.
- No slurs, dehumanization, sectarian abuse, racist or hateful attacks, or calls to exclude or harm a protected group.
- No takfir-style accusations, false presentation as an official religious authority, or harassment over personal religious practice.
- Do not celebrate trauma, disability, illness, family conflict, nationality, tribe, ethnicity, gender, or vulnerability.
3. No harassment, threats, or exposure
- No targeted insults, dogpiling, stalking, intimidation, blackmail, coercion, or repeated unwanted contact.
- No credible threats, wishes of serious harm, incitement, or attack instructions.
- No doxxing or requests for names, phone numbers, email, workplace, school, address, precise location, external handle, photograph, or government identifier.
- Do not encourage identifying an anonymous author from clues.
4. Sexual safety and exploitation
- Never post child sexual abuse material, sexualize anyone under 18, request sexual material from a minor, or facilitate grooming or exploitation.
- No non-consensual intimate imagery, threats to share it, sexual extortion, or requests to exchange explicit material.
- No graphic pornography, sexual services, or sexual solicitation. Non-graphic relationship questions may be restricted to an appropriate audience.
- Do not advise or encourage adultery, sexual betrayal of a partner, pornography consumption, or exchanging explicit material. Discussion and help-seeking are different from promotion.
- Assault or abuse may be discussed without graphic detail, victim-blaming, identification, or advice that increases danger.
5. Self-harm, suicide, and dangerous conduct
- Do not encourage, praise, challenge, or instruct suicide, self-harm, starvation, overdose, or dangerous acts.
- No method detail, concealment advice, lethal comparison, or material designed to trigger a vulnerable person.
- Supportive recovery discussion is allowed; encourage immediate offline help when danger may be present.
- Never use a public debate to decide whether someone should seek emergency or urgent medical help.
6. Violence, crime, fraud, and regulated goods
- No glorification or facilitation of terrorism, trafficking, kidnapping, serious violence, or organized crime.
- No instructions to evade authorities, hide evidence, hack, scam, launder, steal, forge, or commit fraud.
- No sale, sourcing, or promotion of illegal drugs, weapons, counterfeit documents, stolen goods, or regulated products.
- Do not advise or encourage gambling, intoxication, alcohol misuse, non-medical drug use, or another explicitly prohibited activity. Neutral discussion, recovery, and help-seeking remain allowed.
- Safety or legal-help requests after witnessing wrongdoing may be allowed if they do not expose victims or teach offending.
7. Privacy and off-platform contact
- Do not post phone numbers, email, external usernames, contact links, addresses, or precise identifying facts.
- Do not ask users to move to direct messages, WhatsApp, Snapchat, Instagram, Telegram, or another external channel.
- Do not upload another person’s private conversation or information without a lawful basis and appropriate anonymization.
- Use relationship labels and broad time/location descriptions instead of names and exact facts.
8. Authenticity and impersonation
- Do not impersonate a person, organization, professional, scholar, authority, or Shoorkum representative.
- Do not fabricate an emergency, abuse allegation, outcome, credential, or personal experience to manipulate users.
- Satire and hypotheticals must be clear enough not to be reasonably understood as a real accusation or emergency.
9. Advice and professional claims
- Community rank does not make anyone a licensed professional or qualified religious authority.
- Do not diagnose, prescribe, guarantee outcomes, or tell someone to ignore emergency services, professionals, guardians, or protection services.
- Distinguish personal experience from verified fact and correct material errors.
- Religious discussion must be respectful and described as personal/community opinion unless a verifiable source is accurately identified. Shoorkum answers are not fatwas.
10. Integrity, spam, and manipulation
- No coordinated votes, extra accounts, traded reactions, or manipulation of outcomes, ranks, levels, or leaderboards.
- No mass posting, irrelevant repetition, advertising, recruitment, service sales, or chain messages.
- No knowingly false or retaliatory reports and no threats to report someone for disagreement.
- No bug exploitation, unauthorized automation, scraping, or unofficial interfaces.
11. Teen safety
Do not seek private contact with a minor, request personal information, sexualize a minor, pressure secrecy, or encourage bypassing guardians or safety controls. Adults must maintain appropriate boundaries. Shoorkum may restrict audience, mentions, profiles, purchases, features, and visibility for younger users.
12. Enforcement, reports, and appeals
Shoorkum may use automated moderation, custom rules, reports, account history, and human review where reasonably available. Actions include refusing publication, reducing distribution, age restriction, removal, reputation reversal, warning, suspension, evidence preservation, or account deletion.
Use Report for content and Block for unwanted interaction. If someone is in immediate danger, contact local emergency or protection services instead of waiting for an in-app response. Eligible decisions may be appealed under the Appeals Policy.
